These 2 prints above have been created through silk screen printing technique. In this blog I'm going to detail how you can recreate a print using the same technique.

Step 1: Come up with your design (for these two above I hand sketched these)

Step 1

Step 2: Expose the screens using a light-sensitive emulsion and a light box

Step 3: Rinse out the screen as soon as removed from the light box. You can just use a cold hose to quickly rinse out the emulsion that's been burnt through the light box

Step 4: Dry and prepare the screen for printing; you'll need to gum-strip the edges and dry these fully before considering printing

Step 5: Get your paper on to the bed, flip the screen so the screen will be touching the paper, screen side down. Flood the screen ready to pull over the paper

Step 6: Pull the squeegee over the screen to create the final print (remember to be slow and evenly pull the canvas up to not smudge the print

Step 7: You have successfully created a screen print!
